LUMIX Box Cam Q&A featuring BS1H & BGH1

Photo Moment - October 14, 2021

Got BGH1 and BS1H questions? I've got answers! Well… let's try ;-)

This is a replay of the LIVE show! I go live every Tuesday 10am Pacific or Wednesday 9pm Pacific (or some other random time if those don't work out) for a show of random chattering and meandering tech. It's a great place to get any lingering questions you have, answered!

And Merry Christmas 2022.. my next cam will be the bgh1 as my A cam, I have 2 bmpcc4k for B and C cams..if I was to get anything else it would probably be the Red Komodo..great channel
FYI, when your video thumbnail has red at the bottom (such as the gradient used in the thumbnail for this video), it’s difficult for viewer to see the “red line at bottom of thumbnail” that indicates we’ve already watched it. :)
Oh yeah. I know that but sometimes forget, sorry!
Is it possible from the look perspective to mix up BGH1 with BS1H together?
Totally! Both are V-Log/V-Gamut. The only way you'd see a difference other than lens choice) would be if you had a scene that maxed out the dynamic range of the BS1H and shot the same scene with the BGH1. The dynamic range of the BS1H is slightly higher, so that'd clip the BGH1. But that's pretty hard to do!
I believe NDI is only available via an SDK so the SDK would have to be compatible with the chips they used inside the camera. This is why I believe NDI use will always be limited/restricted.
To be fair, a lot of things are proprietary that get used all the time. ProRes for example. But yeah if it was totally open then I'm sure it'd be much more widespread!
