DOES IT WORK?! It’s finally time for a full-on LIVE 4K test!

Photo Moment - March 24, 2022

This was the first live stream in a while… because I've been busy rebuilding and re-tweaking the setup for full 4K live broadcast! Come check out the new setup… it's pretty sweet!

This is a replay of the LIVE show! I go live every Tuesday 10am Pacific or Wednesday 9pm Pacific (or some other random time if those don't work out) for a show of random chattering and meandering tech. It's a great place to get any lingering questions you have, answered!

Quality looking awesome!
Thanks for watching!
You know I've always been an Apple fan as you are, but I'm getting really tired of the video problems. Basically, Mac does what it wants not what I want. Grrr. I don't exactly know what triggers the Mac to allow HiDPI or not. Like the iPad, thinking it's connected to a TV and adding underscan, when the Mac thinks it's connected to certain displays it'll allow HiDPI or not. On Mac, you can try using SwitchResX to force resolutions (including HiDPI) or framerates. I'm not sure if you've gotten the EDID from the Decimator to make Mac output 29 or if the Mac is sending 30 and Decimator is frame syncing but whatever works. I'm surprised that the BMD EDID doesn't ask for 29 but maybe it is and Mac is sending 30 anyway. Dangit. And lately I've noticed that some Mac connections are orange and I have to figure out how to really disable Night mode on the Millumin outputs. :-(
Hey mate, always nice to see you here. The Decimator is scaling 30 to 29. I’ve never seen a Mac output 29.97, and I’ve tried many tools (including SwitchResX) to get there. The only reason you can connect a Mac to an ATEM Mini at 29.97 is that they have scalers built in to every port. That’s what impressed me the most when they first came out over two years ago. I sure wish you could force the frequency and high DPI on a Mac in the Settings. Is so annoying they don’t just have checkboxes for this.
