Moving my pictures (which are referenced) to a new larger hard drive. #1

Hi everyone.

Apologies if this subject has already been covered/answered.

I want to move all my pictures to a larger hard drive and possibly rename that drive.  My pictures are currently referenced.

The aperture library (which presumably only holds the meta data and the preview photos) resides in my Pictures directory.

If I do that, will it mean that Aperture will no longer ‘find’ the pictures and I will have to re-import them (as referenced) again, together with all the re-creation of the numerous folders I’ve currently got?

Many thanks,

Mike

If you connect your new and larger renamed HD and in AP move them, File… Relocate Original, then Ap will know where they are.

If you use the finder and not AP to move or copy the files to a new HD and want to point the lib to the new location you can do that manually.  First disconnect the older smaller HD, and in AP make a smart album of offline images,  then use Menu File  Locate Referenced files.  That dialogue box  will reconnect them.

Cheers
