Previously I reported issues with my 27” iMac display being way too contrasty and I could not figure out how to correct this. It turns out, when I transferred from my old MacPro iI included “settings” as well. Just transfer Apps and User Data and it will obviate the problem.

If you're not sure set up a test account and check the monitor there. If it looks normal, you have a settings issue.
