How do I move individual events from iPhoto to Aperture? I follow the instructions in the manual and it does not work.  (Choose File>Import>Show iPhoto Browser.  No Show iPhoto Browser option comes up.)  I do not want to move the entire iPhoto library into Aperture at this time.  Eventually I plan to have the vast majority of my photos in Aperture as Masters,  not referenced, as I use the organization format I am going to use in Aperture and its additional organizing features.

The first update of Aperture 3.5 was exclusive to the App Store.

Compatibility with Mavericks If Aperture 3.4.5 can be installed on a Mac running Mavericks, try updating to version 3.5.1 from the App Store.

If you did not initially purchase aperture through the appStore, the Accept button for aperture may appear on the Purchases tab slope unblocked.

Accept it to associate it with your Apple ID if yes.

Aperture is no longer marketed, but it should be possible to obtain upgrades.
