Hi all,

I'd like to organize my pictures in folders of type year/month. However if I create a folder and try to either drag a folder into it or import pictures into a folder(which “grays out”), I can't.
I'm sure it's my lack of knowledge shining through here. Could some helpful person help me out here?

Cheers Peter

Hi Peter

You can’t put pictures in a folder; only in a project. But you can have a 2011 folder with Jan, Feb, Mar projects.

I do it differently though. I have a year (2011) folder with a single 2011 project for general stuff and other projects for shoots proper. If I wanted a date range I’d use smart albums to extract what I was after. But up to you - it’s pretty flexible.

Thanks David,

Thats all good and well, but I can’t put a project into a folder either.
Probably it’s a little to flexible for my mind to get through to it. :-(

Peter,

Sounds like you have a library problem. So you’re saying if you create a new folder, then try to drag a project into it, it simply won’t go?

Hold down command-option while launching Aperture, and you’ll get a three repair options. Pick the middle one.

It’s best if you back up before running the repair… just in case.

Back up, whats that? ;-)

Cheers Peter
