Printer-managed vs. ColorSync Color Profile #1

The print options in Aperture allow you to chose between specifying an ICC profile that is managed by ColorSync or having the printer manage color. (Please correct me if I get any of the lingo wrong.) Which is better? Upon comparing print samples from a test scene with portrait and landscape elements, I can't really tell much difference. (I am a bit skeptical about having my Epson printer manage color because there are all sorts of options that I can't find any documentation on. And most of these options, like adjusting contrast, duplicate controls that are better implemented as adjustments in Aperture anyway.)
