I just replaced my old iMac with the latest 27” i7 with 16 Gb of RAM & the best video card. I wish to transfer all my files off of my old HDs- one of which is FW800 and the other USB 2.0 to a Western Digital 4 Tb thunderbolt. Presently my Aperture has no files in it but this time I wish to use the digital asset management features of Aperture to access all the files as thunderbolt can access them nearly as fast as if they were on the computer. (At the end of the import I will take the old HDs offsite as a secure backup) Can anyone help me with the attachments of hardware and then the correct way to import.

Does you FW800 disk also have a USB port? I don’t think the latest iMac has a FW port so you may have to use USB to connect all your “old” disks to the new iMac while you do your data transfer.
