Some time ago I had a serious hard drive problem and lost (among other things) my iPhoto library. Fortunately, I had backed up the library on a DVD. I would like to import the library from the DVD into Aperture but I can't figure out how to do it.
It would be much more comvenient to have the library on the hard drive.

Copy the iPhoto library folder from your DVD to your Pictures folder.
Open Aperture, and File > Import > Library to import the library into Aperture.
You may also be able to File > Import > Library directly from the DVD.

Thanks for your help. I had hoped that the iPhoto library copy on the DVD would include the album structure which I had set up in iPhoto. Unfortunately, it apparently did not so I now face a formidable task of organising several thousand photos in Aperture.
