I am running Aperture on my macbook and viewing them via a thunderbolt monitor. My library is referenced and the files are connected. My issue comes when I go from viewing the thumbnails and when I try to view them either in the filmstrip view or full size: the screen shows that it's loading the image and then all I see is the gray background. i can zoom, etc. But nothing shows. I double-check to make sure that the referenced file is connected, and it shows up. I can even export the file with no issues. Could the difference in resolution from the screen on my MBP and my thunderbolt monitor cause this issue?

Dan,

Let’s do this one step at a time. Does the problem go away if you disconnect the external screen and use ONLY the MacBook screen?

If so, reconnect the screen, but only view Aperture on the MacBook screen — don’t have Aperture spanning to the second screen.

If that works too, move Aperture to the second screen only.

Let’s go with that for now. You didn’t say if you’re using the external screen ONLY, or if you’re running in dual-display mode?
