I have only done books in iPhoto in the past and I am now going to make one in Aperture as I really like the custom features.
There are a few things in iPhoto that I cannot seem to find or there is a different way.
(1)
Is there a way of previewing the book layout at the bottom pane as it is in iPhoto.
I found it very helpful plus the unused layout pages appear in the main book preview window and it seems confusing.
(2)
Is there a way of rearranging the page layouts in the side bar (book pages bar).
I find it frustrating to have to skip thru pages in the main window that I am not going to use and am not sure it they are in the book layout.
Frankly it looks like it is part of the book with blank pages.
(3)
Can you rearrange pages after they are complete.
IOW's = If I wanted to move pages 3-4 to pages 6 & 7.

these questions lead me to believe you aren’t seeing the entire books interface in Aperture. You should be seeing something like this:[screenshot]
You can rearrange pages all day long, and choose different layouts for them too. I recommend you check out Live Training Session 019: Books as this may answer some of your questions.
