I’m testing Capture One Pro and the first couple images have me sold! Clearly, this is a superior editing program. Almost every software program now can get you amazing results. But it’s about workflow and how much time you spend on editing. C1 Pro, so far, is starting out of the gate with a better image. I’ve been doing this for a long long time and learned being a Photoshop guru gets you nowhere but stuck in a chair editing multiple layers in one photo. Waisting time you could be spending taking the damn photos!!!

This flower photo was just a boring shot until I opened it in Capture One Pro 9. It took me 30 seconds to output this with minimal editing.

Told you so.

My favorites are the Clarity & Structure sliders (esp. in combination) and the whole Color Editor / Color Balance tool.

It’s also pretty amazing how C1 nails colors right out of the gates. This is especially evident in portraits or anything with controlled lighting like in a studio setting.

Yes you did and you know this was directed as a response to you telling me so :D

I do need to learn the color editing. I’m also looking at preset styles to help with speed.

My only issue so far is cataloging with C1 Pro. I killed it when I tried to import my Lightroom catalog. I ended up with 40,000 face shots. I don’t EVER use face detection. So I had to work for hours just deleting the imported catalog. C1 would not just let me delete the catalog they created. Even after deleting the files from the folder behind C1’s back.

So now I created a fresh Apple Photos library and moving every photo I own onto Thunderbolt 2 hard drives. This is turning out to be the best setup Ive ever had. Photos for mac set NOT to manage but to use all these freshly moved files as REFERENCED :)

I’m happy with Capture One Pro as my editor and Apple Photos as my management.
