Monitor Suggestions #1

I have a 24 inch Apple Cinema HD display (actually 23” DVI-1920 x 1200) that is probably about 8 years old.  I will be getting a new 15” rMBP by the end of the year and have been rattling around the thought of upgrading my monitor to at least a 27” if not 30.”  I know the 4K monitors are all the rage and I am not about to spend $3000+ for the one at the apple store.  The just under a $1000 27” apple display would be pushing my planned budget.  So I was wondering if there were any suggestions out there for an alternative, nice cost-effective monitor that you would recommend or that you are currently using and are quite happy with.

When it comes to purchasing Apple hardware … I always recommend taking a look in the Apple online Refurb and Clearance Store … just scroll to the bottom of any page in the Apple online Store and click on the link.

There you will find recent model hardware from iPod Nanos to the latest and greatest and greatest desktops and laptops (except for iPhones and have not seen the new Mac Pro there yet) …

You can save $200 on the 27” Cinema Display … All items from this section of the store may arrive in a plain box, but appear as new, have a full warranty and are eligible for Apple Care plans … and free shipping (at least that is how it works in the US)

You can’t custom build a computer from the Refurb Store, though, all hardware that uses a battery has had a new fresh battery installed prior to the sale. Inventory changes often and rapidly because quantities are limited. You may have to be patient to find exactly what you desire. It may also take some time for current production models to appear in the Refurb Store, but there are plenty of previous generation models. Seven of eight of my last hardware purchases from Apple have been done this way. Saved a bundle.

Butch, Thanks for the info.  I was considering looking at the Refurb store but hadn’t gotten around to it.  I’d still be interested in any other recommendations
