How can I change the color of the background in my pictures ? If I want to turn completely black a background in any picture, how do I do it ?
Also, if I convert a picture to B&W, how can I keep just a portion of the picture colored and the rest in black and white ?

Maurice,

You can turn any photo black and white using the Black and White adjustment feature. [screenshot].

If you want to change just some colors to B&W, select the exact color using the eyedropper in the Color adjustment and then desaturate that [screenshot].

Once that’s done, if you wanted even more control, you could brush the effect in or out using the built-in brushes for that Adjustment [screenshot].

If you don’t find the tools in Aperture adequate, you’ll need to move into Photoshop and take advantage of layers.
